Chaos released at the flip of a coin
This coin is imbued with wild magic, teeming with chaotic energy. Crafted from an arcane metal that shimmers with magical flux, the coin's surface is etched with ever-shifting symbols that radiate mystical power. When flipped it crackles with a flurry of colours as it momentarily fractures space and time around it, drawing energy from the entropy throughout the realms.
Charging the Coin
After a Long Rest, the attuned holder of the Coin of Chaotic Chances must roll a 1d6 to determine the method required to charge the coin for use. Each method can only be used once per day, and the coin can hold only one charge at a time:
- Elemental Impact: The coin must be struck by elemental damage (fire, ice, lightning, etc.).
- Spell Slot Expenditure: Expend a spell slot of any level to imbue the coin with magical energy.
- Life Force Transfer: Spend a Hit Die, channelling your vitality into the coin.
- Emotional Resonance: Charge the coin by failing a saving throw, channelling your emotional energy into it.
- Solar Infusion: Expose the coin to one hour of direct sunlight to absorb the solar energy.
- Instant Charge: The coin spontaneously charges through an intrinsic burst of wild magic.
Unleashing Chaos
Once charged, you can flip the coin as a bonus action. Upon landing, the DM will roll on the Wild Magic Surge table to determine the magical effect that is triggered. The range of possible effects spans from tremendously beneficial to potentially harmful, reflecting the volatile nature of wild magic.
